Ratatan on Switch 2

The eShop listing

The product URL is nintendo.com/us/store/products/ratatan-switch-2/. On 16 October 2026 it showed a regular price of $34.99, publisher GSE, a 14 October 2026 date, and ESRB E10+ for alcohol reference, fantasy violence, mild language, and in-game purchases. Download size for Switch 2 is 3.2 GB. The same page also lists a Nintendo Switch size of 1.7 GB.

Player count is one person on a single system and 1–4 online. Tags include Nintendo Switch Online play, Save Data Cloud, and cross-platform play. Online play needs an active Nintendo Switch Online membership. Frame-rate numbers are not on this page. I put the performance discussion on Switch 2 performance and left fps blank on purpose.

Switch 1 is not a cancellation notice

The 1.7 GB row is why I will not write “cancelled.” The Full Release FAQ, updated 13 October 2026, says the original Nintendo Switch version and the GOG version are currently in preparation. No shop date is attached. Digital pre-orders for the released versions were announced on Steam news. I have not confirmed a Switch 2 deluxe or DLC price on the eShop.

A store tag is not current cross-play confirmation

The 16 October 2026 publisher notice says cross-play across four platforms remains in development and needs approval, with no date. That conflicts with the earlier FAQ and Nintendo’s tag. Do not assume Switch 2 can currently match with a specific other platform; see the current multiplayer status. Nintendo’s 3.2 GB listing is an estimated game file size, not a measured download package.

Questions

Does Ratatan run on the original Switch?

Not as a released game on 16 October 2026. The FAQ says that version is in preparation.

Do I need Nintendo Switch Online?

Yes for online co-op and for Save Data Cloud. Offline single-player does not use that subscription.

Is there a physical Switch 2 copy?

The FAQ says the Switch 2 physical edition is a game card with the game on it, not a key card. I did not audit every retailer.
